Grace and Peace Lutheran Congregation Council
November 18, 2003
Present: Pastor Shelksohn, Julie Smith, Paul Mueller, Hilary Shirven, Kristina Glenzinski, Sandy Peterson, Mary Whitledge, Jan Jarrett, Dave Dietrich, Roberta Dietrich and Nancy Claude. Pastor Shelksohn led the Council in prayer and David Dietrich shared a devotion. Sharing The Vision: 10th Anniversary devotional books are being prepared for the Lenten season. Julie asked for volunteers from the Council to be included in the booklet. The Natural Church Development materials were explained by Pastor. There are eight main goals and Pastor recommended this program to Council. Hilary made a motion to put the appropriate amount of money in the budget to purchase these materials. The motion was seconded by Jan Jarrett. The motion carried.The future of the custodial services necessary for the church were discussed. The Executive Council will discuss these needs with Jack and Maxine.
MINISTRY REPORTS
COMMUNITY ACTION - Coffee Hour on November 23 will be held to benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse. The Human Service Dinner will be served by our church on November 25th.
FINANCE MINISTRY - A new format for the budget was presented by the Finance Ministry. Proposed budgets were reviewed. Estimated income was discussed versus the requested budget amounts from all ministries. Estimated income is $242.995, requested 2004 budget totaled $279.569.
STEWARDSHIP MINISTRY - 2004 Pledge Analysis sheets were distributed to Council. Total of 72 pledges have been received representing a 4.1% increase. Follow up will begin for those who have not returned their pledge cards.
WORSHIP AND MUSIC MINISTRY - Had their staff evaluations for Richard and Gretchen and proposed salary increases. The concert for the 10th anniversary is being planned.
YOUTH MINISTRY - Staff evaluation was completed. Meetings for the Mission Trip are being held monthly for the youth and adults attending. LYO is meeting every Thursday and are helping with Kids In Christ.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY - Sunday School rotations continue through November 23rd, and then the children will break for practices for the Sunday School Christmas program coordinated by Gretchen Church. The Sunday School children are being served coffee hour in the Sunday School rooms which helps to keep Sunday School on time.
ENDOWMENT MINISTRY - Julie presented the nomination of Ray Boyer for election to the Endowment Ministry. Hilary made a motion to accept the nomination of Ray Boyer. Nancy Claude seconded. The motion carried.
EVANGELISM MINISTRY - The recommendation from the Evangelism Ministry for Betty Wilken as our new missionary from Madagascar was presented. Sandy Peterson made a motion to accept Betty Wilken as our missionary from Madagascar. Hilary seconded. The motion carried.
