Sunday School Teachers Needed in February and March

We are currently recruiting Sunday School volunteers for a two week commitment in either February or March.  We have 2 Sunday School Classes this year. You will volunteer to lead one activity and teach the same activity to each class one time. Approximately 3-5 weeks prior to your class starting you will receive an orientation packet providing information on locations, class lists and a base curriculum.  Please prayerfully consider when and where your talents would fit into our rotation schedule.  If you are interested in teaching 1 (or more!) of the rotation topics this spring, please contact Bette Traenkenschuh (682-0300) or Sandi Smith (685-5548).

February 1st, 8th and 15th - The Early Church
Our overall theme for this year is Covenant. One way that the covenant is expressed is the institution of the Church.  As a community, it offers a haven to those who profess their common belief in Jesus Christ.   As well, the church is a place where the individuals can express their faith by offering their talents and spiritual gifts.  The corporate church and the individuals in the church work together to make the "Body of Christ."

- Experience the inter-relatedness and value of each part of the Body of Christ through challenging and cooperative activities.
- After Exploring the scripture, make gift boxes in relation to spiritual gifts.
- Hear 1 Corinthians 12: 21-31 and then create mosaic projects to come to a better understanding of what Paul meant about the Body of Christ.

February 29th, March 7th, March 14th - Crucifixion

- Hear Andrew's story and then create a reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus and the further ministry of Andrew.
- Discover the differences between the Old and New Covenant.  Create a variety of ads to publicize the "New and Improved" version of The Covenant.
- Discover the history behind a variety of crosses.  Each member will design and make their own cross.

Sunday School Classes For Adults
There will be several class options available for adult members in January.  The First official class day is Sunday, January 4th
Current Events - Dick Joyce will continue leading a weekly discussion group on current events.  This class will meet in the last Sunday School room on the right side of the hall.
Study of the Gospel of Luke - Pastor Shelksohn will start a 4 week overview of the Gospel of Luke.  This session will meet in his office.
Study of A Purpose Filled Life - Sue Hughes will continue leading a study of this fascinating book.  Due to the complexity of the topic, it may not be one you can easily jump in and join.  But don't worry, because of popular demand, this study will begin again in February.  The class meets in the Narthex.
Class on Caregivers - Chris Mitchell will be leading a class on Caregivers.  Since some who may want to participate may not be able to make it on Sunday mornings, the same content will be repeated during a weekly session as well.  This class will meet on Sunday mornings in the Front office.
