Areas of Ministry and Business

Property
- There is approximately $10,000 in the Capital Improvement/Sanctuary Fund. Discussion about splitting this fund into 2 separate entities, since some donations were given specifically for a new sanctuary. It was suggested that the Property Ministry submit to the Finance Ministry the amount they recommend should be in the Capital Improvement fund.
A new coordinator for the Property Ministry will be required since the current coordinator has submitted her resignation as of January 1, 2004. Current members of the ministry are not interested in becoming the coordinator.
The playground plan was submitted to Thrivent for matching funds up to $800, but still needs to be defined in greater detail. An estimate is still required before the roof repair plan can be submitted.

Community Action - Human Services Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25.

Finance - The Finance Ministry directed the Treasurer to borrow from the Thrivent Grace and Peace Fund to cover shortfalls in giving over the remainder of the year. It is anticipated that this will be a short-term situation and that the operating account will return to a positive balance in December.
New insurance coverage is still being investigated; the current coverage was extended for 3 months.
A reminder that Carin Caras is the memorial funds coordinator. If you have ideas or requests for how to use memorial funds please contact Carin.
All annual staff evaluations are due to the Finance Ministry by November 9. Dave thanked all the ministries for turning in their 2004 budget requests on time.

Stewardship - The annual stewardship drive kicked off on Sunday, October 19, with letters to be mailed to members announcing the significant dates of the drive. Pledge Commitment Sunday will be November 9, and the comedy dessert theater, "To The Castle," to thank the congregation for their support will be Sunday, November 16, at 2 p.m.

Youth - Reservations have been made for 15 youth and adults to participate in a mission trip in the summer of 2004 through YouthWorks.

Christian Education - The Christmas Program will be December 14 between services with Gretchen Church as the director.

Evangelism - Made recommendation for new missionary for Grace and Peace to support. Will be voted on at November meeting.

Worship and Music - Discussed worship equipment needs.
