AREAS OF MINISTRY AND BUSINESS

NURTURE - The 41+ Couples Group event has been postponed until later.  Ann Joyce and Linda Ericsson will be coordinating this event.  There will be a weiner roast/hayrack ride on October 25th at Brian and Julie Smith's home beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Christmas caroling to our shut-ins has been scheduled for December 6th.  A suggestion was made to inform the youth of this date so they can participate.

PROPERTY -No report.

COMMUNITY ACTION -The blood drive was very successful with a total of 13 units received.  Keri thanked all the volunteers for their hard work.

FINANCE - Negative cash flow is projected for October and November.  Strategies have been discussed - borrowing of dedicated funds, deferring expenditures and/or deferring payments of bills - all possible solutions.  The monthly mortgage payments will be reduced to the new rate  which will result in a $200 savings per month.  A lower insurance quote was received.  The committee will investigate one more company.  The premium has been paid for the next three months.  Julie reminded Council members of the dedicated funds that were included in our estimated income at the beginning of the year and asked the ministries to be aware of these funds.  A  budget worksheet have been given to each ministry and are due back to the Finance committee by October 15th.  A proposed purchase order request and procedure were submitted by the Finance committee for recommendation to the Council to help control cash flow and expenditures.  David  Dietrich made a motion to approve the Purchase Order procedure as written.  Hilary seconded.  The motion carried.

STEWARDSHIP -Written report was presented.

WORSHIP AND MUSIC - Written report was reviewed.  Paul reported that a healing station will be available on the 4th Sunday of each month beginning on September 28th.

YOUTH  - Jan reported that the youth will be participating in a mission trip next year to Cape Charles in Virginia.  A $50 deposit is due by the end of September.  Adults are also needed.  The Senior Youth meets on Sunday evenings.
