CHRISTIAN EDUCATION - The first rotation has been organized for the Sunday School classes.  December 14th is the date for the Sunday School program and it will be held between the services.

ENDOWMENT - A meeting has been planned in October.  Julie reminded the ministries about applying for funds for special projects.

EVANGELISM - A written report was submitted.  This ministry has applied for an endowment grant for purchase of "The Lutheran" for 50 families.  Talked about the cookie ministry and have some new volunteers to assist in taking the cookies to new members.  Next month this ministry will have a recommendation of missionaries.

LONG RANGE PLANNING - The office technology committee is continuing to gather information.  The Responsibility List was given to the ministries with a reminder that everyone needs to take ownership of their individual ministries  intention to implement these goals.  To better communicate with the congregation, an email list will be assembled,  Mary Jane Hinshaw has volunteered to coordinate this.

10th ANNIVERSARY TASK FORCE - Continuing to plan the activities that will take place in 2004.  An in-house photo directory will be done by Sam Sylvester, Mary Ellen Noren and Dick Joyce.  The date for the Concert on July 21st, 2004 may change as the committee is researching for a well-known artist.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT - A written report was submitted.  Next meeting date is September 17, 2003.


 

 

NEW BUSINESS
 

Transition plans will be kept in an unlocked file cabinet in the office.  Pastor and the president of the Council will also have copies at their home.  Julie reminded the Council of the Leadership and Worship Workshops - dates and times.  Staff evaluations should be done in the month of October.
MINUTES - The Minutes of the August 19th meeting were accepted.
WOMEN OF GRACE AND PEACE -Roberta reported that the Ice Cream Social at Lutheran Home was very successful.   Thank you to Edell Berg and Sandi Crowe, representatives from Grace and Peace for their help.
PASTOR'S REPORT - Worship Statistics were reviewed and showed an increase in numbers this year.  Pastor will be gone September 17-21st to an anti-racism seminar along with Louise Cheatham and Kenneth Jackson from our church.  He will also be gone September 22-24th to Carlinville for a Leadership training.  Pastor Hanson will be our guest preacher on the 21st.   Pastor asked the Council to read through the Seeds of The Parish he included in their packets.  The film "Luther" will be playing at the Pekin theater on September 26th.  Pastor has distributed another 100 brochures inviting people to Grace and Peace.
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL - Met and set agenda.
CORRESPONDENCE - None
Next Council Meeting will be October 21, 2003.  Executive Meeting will be October 15, 2003. Devotions and refreshments will be Pastor and Nancy Claude.  A motion to adjourn was made and passed.  The Council closed with the Lord's Prayer.
