Coffee Cup   Food Basket

Coffee hour means

food baskets for LSSI

Our church's Thrivent group is almost ½ way to our goal of $400 for the match from Thrivent
to fund food baskets for clients from LSSI.  Thanks to your generosity of September 21, $186.68
was raised.

Sunday, Oct. 12 is an opportunity for more fun at coffee hour.  We are fund raising for food baskets
in our community.  The names will come from LSSI and there will be matching funds from Thrivent.
We have the chance to raise $400 or more and match $400 for helping the needy in our midst.
Think about the amount you spend at the grocery store or when you go out to eat.  Surely you will be able
to share the gifts you have in order to fund a food basket.  Our goal is 20 baskets for 20 families.  Help us
ring the bell for each basket.

Those who attend first service should plan to stay for coffee hour afterwards.  Those who attend second
service should come early to get in on the "bidding" to complete the 20 baskets.

This is a 4-part project - 2 coffee hours, grocery shopping, and assembling the baskets.  We can only start
by raising the funds.  Be part of the action - service in our community!  Be generous on October 12 so we
will accomplish this project.

HIS BANNER OVER ME IS LOVE -#6

We still need 4 squares to be added to the 14 beautiful ones turned in by our members to be designed into Quilt Banner #6.  There are several families who have taken a muslin square but I guess, so far, it is blank.  Get your creative juices flowing and finish that square!

We need some time to do the work of arranging, measuring, sewing, pressing, and quilting the 18 into another handsome wall hanging.  Time is running out.

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF INGATHERING

This year we will be collecting all men's clothing (even suits) but no accessories - belts, ties, cuff links.  They also need children's clothing up to size 12 and sweaters for women.  We have a gently used sale on October 4 at Grace and Peace so bring your clothing for that event, and the leftovers will be boxed up for LWR.  We will need the help of many hands on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to do the packing of all the clothing.  Please come at 11:30 a.m. with your sack lunch.  We will start the packing about noon.
