Sunday, September 7th, is Rally Day,
and the Christian Education Committee is excited to kick
off another year of Sunday School Classes for all ages!
Please join us at 9:50am in the Great Room to see
what's in store for you.
Children age 4 through 7th Grade will
again be participating in the rotation style of Sunday
school. This fall we will continue with sessions focusing
on the theme Covenant. Our first subject under the theme
Covenant is the Ten Commandments. The kids will be
learning about the Ten Commandments each week. The four
weeks include: Food, Bible Study, Food and Music. We
will be contacting adults to help us by committing to a
four week rotation throughout the year. Please
prayerfully consider when you can give your time and what
area you would enjoy sharing. Three year olds can
also go to Sunday school. They will be meeting in their
regular room and will learn about the same topics as the
older kids.
The older youth (Grades 8-12) will participate in
classes organized by Sandi Smith. We will start by
utilizing Faith Lens: A weekly Bible study/discussion
offered by the ELCA for youth that links current news
stories and scripture texts for the upcoming Sunday.
Topics are updated on Thursdays. You can read ahead and
prepare for the Sunday discussion by logging onto the ELCA
website: www.elca.org, clicking "Youth" and then clicking
"Weekly Bible Study." Throughout the year we will have
guest leaders and class members rotate in to lead topics
that the class selects. Please begin thinking about who
you would like to have visit the class and what topics you
would like to cover.
Adults can choose from four classes to attend.
Topics include Current Events, Stewardship, a study of the
book A Purpose Filled Life, and New Member classes
for people thinking about becoming members of Grace and
Peace.
There are many ways for you to learn and grow through
Sunday school! Whether as a leader, a member or
assistant, even by helping cover the nursery, come check
us out Sunday, September 7th, in the Great
Room.
