  Our Church's Anniversary

September History Highlights

1913 Grace Church organized by Rev. Seibert, Missionary Superintendent (24 members)
1914 First Anniversary service of Grace
1938    25th Anniversary of Grace Lutheran at Illinois and Dechman
1958    Ground Breaking ceremonies were held for Grace on Arcadia
1959    Cornerstone laid for Grace Church on Arcadia
1960 Dedication of Parish Hall at Grace on Arcadia
1991 "Blessings of our Tools at Peace", daily work force dedicated work to God's glory at Peace
1993 On September 19 a Feasibility Study Team (Carin Caras, Sue Ramey, Sid Peterson, and Pastor Wake from Grace; Ray Boyer, Dick Joyce, Lana Staelens, and Pastor Bengston from Peace) set up a meeting schedule to determine whether the two churches should merge.

As we look forward to the 10th Anniversary of Grace and Peace in 2004 we reflect on several "beginnings" that took place in September.  Grace Lutheran was organized 90 years ago on September 21, 1913.  Groundbreaking, laying a cornerstone, and dedication services also took place in September at Grace Lutheran on Arcadia.  The beginning of Grace and Peace took place on September 19, 1993, when the Feasibility Study Team was formed.  Peace had a "Blessing of our Tools" on September 1, 1991. As we celebrate Labor Day how fitting it is to reflect and give thanks to the Lord for the hard work and the use of tools that have gone into the formation of Grace and Peace and our previous churches.

May God continue to bless all of our endeavors.
